iBooks Author

Apple announce their new iBooks2 apps today. Basically, media-rich text books, agreements with major publishers.
Teachers are asking some key questions. I’ve answered a couple:

Can anyone write an ibook?

Yes. And no.

Download the ibook author from the app store on to your mac. It’s free, and very cool. Nothing at all for PC. This is a bit short sighted.

Can anyone distribute an ibook?

Yes. This is aweome. You can write something, then try and get it into the itunes store etc – but this sounds messy and drawn out. But you can just export it and distribute yourself.

Is it easy?

I think so. Apparently you can drag animations straight from keynote – which I love. I haven’t tried it yet, and I probably won’t until I get an iPad (again).
