Operation: Job Hunt
Yes, I’m looking for a job.
Rather than focussing on the hunt (yet), I want to talk about the why – as that seems to be the most common question.
Epsom Girls Grammar School has been really, really good to me. I’ve been in my element – particularly when I had a role as a moodle mover and as an eMentor. Moodle is an LMS (learning management system), but is really best seen as a CMS (content management system). Basically this is all about delivering digital content.
I really enjoyed these jobs, and when I was on sick leave last year and I could no longer do them (in fact, i couldn’t actually do anything), I really missed them.
Going back to vanilla teaching this year has made me realise this: I love IT. I love problem solving. I love fitting things together and making stuff work. I love sharing my passion with others and showing them how this all works. I am pretty excited about mobile technology (ipads, iphones).
I think IT has ruined me for teaching. So I’m venturing into the scary corporate world. I may work with Cognition or Core Education (which would be not that much of a leap), or I may try something completely different.
This is quite exciting. In the mean time, if you have any ideas, let me know. Have a look at my LinkedIn profile and maybe tell someone you know about me. 🙂
